Microsoft Lync© – Unable to Sign In

Concern: User is unable to sign into Microsoft Lync©

Solution

NOTE: Before these steps are performed, the users account on the Microsoft Lync Server should be verified. This fix would apply to a situation when a user normally could log in but is not able too after changing their email address, changing a password etc…

Windows XP
1. Ensure that Lync is completely closed
2. Navigate to C:\\Documents and Settings\%USERNAME%\Application Data\Microsoft\Communicator
3. You should see a file titled AccountProfiles.dat
4. Rename this file to AccountProfiles.datold
5. Restart Lync and attempt to sign in again

Windows Vista/7
1. Ensure that Lync is completely closed
2. Navigate to C:\Users\%USERNAME%\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Communicator
3. You should see a file titled AccountProfiles.dat
4. Rename this file to AccountProfiles.datold
5. Restart Lync and attempt to sign in again

Hope this helps!

Cheers,
Guru
